The annual IMBRSea’s "Diving into Marine Minds" Symposium is a very important event for our Master Program. It is where first-year students meet and interact with the graduating second-year students and teachers, to exchange experiences and knowledge. During this symposium, second-year students present their thesis work while first-year students show what they learned during their professional practice.
For the 2021 edition, due to the Covid-19 situation, an online alternative version of the Symposium will be organized. The IMBRSea programme hopes to still give the opportunity for our students to share with fellow students, teachers and the public at large, what they have done and learned during their experiences in the last academic year.

Thesis presentations will happen between July 5th and 8th in different “online rooms” that will be streamed live on Youtube and can be accessed through Matix.
Each thesis is presented through an oral presentation followed by a public debate with both thesis evaluators and the public present in the room. As in a normal physical Symposium, students have 15 minutes to present their thesis followed by a 10 minutes discussion in which questions will be answered. The questions will be posted through a live chatbox.
Evaluation
Thesis presentations account for 25% of the final grade. They are evaluated on the following aspects: Visual appearance, Content, Speaker's capacity, and General approach to the topic.
As part of the symposium, we plan to organize a series of roundtables where different marine science professionals can discuss the professional context, motivations and concerns of marine scientists. Students should when attending them get an idea on how their careers could look like after graduation.
